You are prompted to enter a password, although none has been set?

Possible causes:
The error can be caused when (several times) the device is switched on with battery operation and switches off during the boot process due to low battery. Also an empty internal lithium battery (CR1216) could be the cause.

Solution:
The master password for MAVOWATT 20/30/40/70 would be "dranetz-bmi". However, since most of the time the touch screen is also misaligned, it might be very difficult to enter this. Then only the possibility remains to delete the password. To delete a possibly set password in the Mavowatt 20/30/40/70, the device firmware must be reinstalled. However, the same firmware version cannot be reloaded, so please proceed as follows:

  • Perform a downgrade to firmware version 4.2.9. (Use the attached file)

Firmware-Version 4.2.9 download

  • Switch off the device again
  • Replace on the CF card the file hostcode.bin by the file of the same name "MW30-70_FW_V4.3.3_Euro.zip" contained in MW30-70_FW_V4.3.3_Euro.zip download.
  • Now execute the update to version 4.3.3 by means of the inserted file. This will also perform a general reset on the device and delete any password that may have been defined.

Application notes Firmaware installation:
Download PDF file
Normally it is sufficient to delete the possibly existing measurement data files on the memory card on the PC and to copy the respective hostcode.bin file onto it. However, if the device does not boot from the memory card, then the card must be reformatted with the program "DFormat" and proceed as described in the attached instructions. You can download this program here: https://service.gossenmetrawatt.com/DFormat.zip
